The Approach Route Subsection file should contain atleast oneinstrument approach, if published, for eachrunway to the airportsreferenced in Section 3.2.4.1except Radar Approaches. ApproachProcedures typeshave been identified and are covered by codingruleselsewhere in this specification.

This specification originally subscribed to anapproachprocedures coding system known as the MultipleApproachCoding Concept. The concept is defined as oneapproach procedure fora given reference facility to agiven single runway. For example, anILS based and aVOR based procedure to the same runway maybeincluded but not an ILS and an ILS Localizer only or aVORDME anda VOR only to the same runway. Throughseveral Supplements to thisspecification, modificationsto this concept have been incorporatedand it is nowpossible to have multiples of the same referencefacilityor to address reference facilities in a morespecificmanner. For details see Chapter Five, Sections 5.7 and5.10.Data Suppliers are requested to supply to either theoriginal or tothe expanded concept.

The Approach Route Subsection file should contain allgovernmentpublished approaches to Heliports referencedin Section 3.3.3.Approach procedure types have beenidentified and are covered bycoding rules elsewhere inthis specification.

The ARINC-429 technical specification, originally referred to as the Digital Information Transfer System (DTIS), was published in 1977 to define how avionics systems and components should communicate within commercial aircraft. The Mark 33 Digital Information Transfer System, as it is known today, is still the standard most commonly used by airlines. This specification is used to establish 429 bus communications for word structures, electrical characteristics and other protocols. 2ff7e9595c
